Rogue is mostly known for her ability to absorb things from people on skin on skin contact. She can absorb the memories, skills, abilities, and superpowers from anyone she touches. If she stays in contact for too long, however, she can permanently absorb the persons abilities and with it, their consciousness. The powers most people have come to know her for are the powers of flight, super strength and near invulnerability when she permanently absorbed them from Ms. Marvel.
Recently, she lost the powers of Ms. Marvel and absorbed the powers of a dying Sunfire, granting her the ability to convert matter into super hot plasma. Rogue now has the ability to shoot energy blasts and fly, leaving a trail of fire behind her.

Rogue often sees her powers as a curse, since she cannot touch the ones she loves the most, especially her fellow teammate and mutant, Gambit.

X-Men, Ultimate X-Men

Currently Seen In:

X-Men, Ultimate X-Men

Interesting Fact:

Rogue’s name has never officially been announced. She is just known as, “Rogue.”

Origin:

Rogue’s powers first manifested when she kissed a childhood friend, Cody Robbins. Rogue absorbed Cody’s memories and consciousness, sending Cody into a coma. Rogue passed out as well, and was later discovered by the townspeople. She fled only to be discovered by Mystique, a shape shifter and criminal. Mystique took Rogue under her wing, becoming a surrogate mother to her.

Rogue eventually joined Mystique in her criminal activities and later the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. It was with the Brotherhood that Rogue fought Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) and absorbers her powers, memories, and consciousness. One might say that this terrible act of Rogue’s part was actually the act that saved her. As the memories and consciousness of Carol Danvers influenced Rogue, she began to see the actions of the Brotherhood as the terrorists that they were. She went to the only people she thought could help her, her one time enemies, The X-Men. Professor X took Rogue in, against the wishes of many of The X-Men. She has proved her dedication to the X-Men time and time again though, and has become a hugely popular member of the team.
