The Spirit is Will Eisner's classic comic book character that emerged from the newspaper comic strips of the 1940's. The character was part crime noir, part mystery, part horror, and even some romance mixed in. Many comic book creators pen Will Eisner's The Spirit as a major influence in their path to making their own comics. One of those fans was Frank Miller, writer and artist legend. Frank Miller got the directing bug when he collaborated with Robert Rodriguez on the adaptation of his Sin City comic books.
The Spirit tells the tale of a young cop who comes back from the dead to fight crime. He faces his greatest foe, the Octopus, who is attempting to gain immortality at the cost of the lives of The Spirit's beloved city. Mixed in this is, "...a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader." Take a look at images from the upcoming film, The Spirit.
