Each year, the San Diego Comic Con International is assaulted by comic book creators of all kinds big and small. They also bring with them the biggest news to offer up to the masses, newly printed comics, upcoming projects, and things to look out for in the coming months. The Comic Con International is the biggest hotspot of comic book activity during this July week. Here are some of the top stories to come out of the convention this year.
11. Not Another Fables Spinoff
Bill Willingham, writer of Fables, Jack of Fables, and The Elementals, is doing a new mini series entitled, "Salvation Row." The series will focus on Arkham Asylum and the way people try to stem the flow of criminals escaping the famous psychiatric ward and other prisons.12. The Walking Dead's Gonna Die
Robert Kirkman is celebrating two of his comics turning fifty. Fifty issues that is. His plans for "The Walking Dead," one of my personal favorites, are that lots of people are going to die. He even said that he is thinking about killing everyone. Get ready zombie fans.13. Angel Series Eight
Following in the footsteps of Dark Horses move to create a series eight of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, IDW Publishing has signed on to create another of Whedon's properties into another comic series, Angel. The series ended early with I gigantic cliffhanger of an ending.14. Iron Man Directs A Comic
Iron Man director Jon Favreau announced that he will be writing an Iron Man miniseries with art by Adi Granov. The Marvel Knight's book will be entitled, "Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas."15. Heroes Gets Published
Wildstorm, an imprint of DC Comics, has been announced to be the publisher of the NBC series Heroes online graphic novel. There will be covers by Jim Lee and Alex Ross.16. The Leagues Latest
The latest story in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" storyline is entitled, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Black Dossier." It will be coming out sometime this year via Wildstorm.17. Stumptown
Greg Rucka announced a new series at the San Diego Comic Con. "Stumptown" tells the story of a private eye who doesn't fly, talk to the dead, or have other supernatural powers. He only has his power of deduction to help him solve mysteries with the mystery machine, minus the mystery machine. The series will be put out by Oni Press.18. The Eternals Begins Again
The Eternals will be getting a new ongoing series from Marvel Comics. The series will be written by Iron Man writers Daniel and Charles Knauf, a father and son team.19. Doctor Who?
IDW Publishing is going to put out a "Doctor Who" comic, based on the very popular and longest running sci-fi television series. It will come out in early 2008.
