Title:

Nightwing

Content Rating:

Nightwing is a teen plus rated book.

Summary:

Nightwing focuses on the story of Dick Grayson, a young man with a fantastic history. Born to a family of acrobatic high flyers, Dick grew up in the circus, learning acrobatics, gymnastics, escape artistry, and many of the other facets of the circus life. He performed in front of hundreds of people and earned the admiration of many. All of this ended when his family was murdered right in front of him one night at a performance.

Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, took young Grayson in as his ward. Bruce, along with Alfred the butler, raised Dick and eventually revealed that he was also Batman. Dick was trained in martial arts and became the sidekick Robin.

As Robin, Dick learned much from his master and became an accomplished hero in his own right, helping to lead the superhero team, the Teen Titans. Batman also trained Dick in the arts of detective work, and quickly became knowledgeable in forensics, tactics, and reasoning, that has aided him much in the future.

A schism began to form between Bruce and Dick in the way the Batman would go about seeking justice. Dick eventually left Bruce and the Robin persona behind, striking out on his own. In a conversation with Superman, Dick learned of a Kryptonian fable of the hero Nightwing. Dick decides to take that as his new persona.

For awhile, Dick stayed in the city of Blüdhaven, working both as a vigilante and as a police officer. He succeeded an enormous amount there, taking down crime bosses and helping to clean up the police force. His work was for naught, when the supervillain Chemo is dropped on the city of Blüdhaven by the Secret Society of Supervillains. As a result, the entier city of Blüdhaven is destroyed.

Recently, Dick has headed off to New York City, making that his base of operations. He is also the leader of a group of superheroes called The Outsiders, that act almost as a group of bounty hunters, taking down supervillains. Despite his previous disdain for many of the Batman’s actions and ways, Dick finds himself acting more and more like his mentor, keeping people at arms length and showing a more cold and calculating side. He has grown weary of, “seeing his friends die.”

Regardless, Dick Grayson, as Nightwing, has earned the respect of many heroes and citizens of the DC universe. He is a powerful leader and protector, giving his old mentor a run for his money.
