The JLA, in its start, was a gimmick to throw it's best selling characters together to give buyers one more reason to pick up another comic book. It had DC's best - Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. Since then, it has become synonomous with the best that the DC universe has to offer. Together, the JLA can combat greater enemies than any one of its individual members and because of this, has become a fairly rock solid part of the the DC lineup.
