Comics and Drugs.

Drugs

Marvel Comics led the battle in 1971 with The Amazing Spider-Man #96-#98, three comic books that had an anti-drug message. The reason why they were so important is that Stan Lee published them without the approval and stamp of the Comics Code seal. The Comics Code was a group that put their stamp on comics deemed to be appropriate for young viewers. The Amazing Spider-Man #96 was the first to go without the seal. The Comics Code was later revised to allow the depiction of drug use as a, “vicious habit”

Soon after, DC Comics introduced one of their characters as having a heroin habit. Speedy, the sidekick of Green Arrow declared himself a junkie in Green Arrow/Green Lantern #85. This comic is considered to be a landmark in bringing the issues of society to the medium of comics.
