Basin City, known as Sin City, is full of crime, crooked cops, and evil, but also justice, passion, and strength. You can find fast money, faster women, and more trouble than most can handle. All of this and more await you in the dark and grimy world of Sin City.
The Story
The stories come from, The Big Fat Kill, The Hard Goodbye, and That Yellow Bastard. There is also a short used for the opening and ending sequence based on, The Customer is Always Right. The short was based on a three page story.
The stories focus on Hartigan, an honest cop with seeking to tie up one loose end before retirement. Next is Marv, a homicidal and demented person with a soft spot for the ladies that gets him in deep trouble. There is also Dwight, good guy with a checkered past and his old flame Gayle, leader of the hookers of Old Town and their fight to keep the mob out of their business. These stories make up a dark and deliciously disturbing film that has been met with rave reviews and major success at the box office.
Review
As a friend of mine put it, Sin City plays out like the comic book reads. The visuals, dialog, and stories are straight from the pages of the comic. Frank Miller has stated that, In a lot of ways this movie is quite literally like having a dream come true.
Other than that, there isnt much else. In getting a chance to review the DVD, I was extremely excited to see what extras would be included. Much to my chagrin, there wasnt much to offer. I would imagine that there will be a later, Director Edition Limited Edition Super Extra Set With More Fun Than You Can Shake A Stick At Extra Edition DVD. But alas, that day is not today.
