Image Comics flew into the comic book world in the early nineties when seven hot comic book artists split off of Marvel and DC to form their own comic book publishing company devoted to creator owned properties. They started off with their own comics, some of which outsold many of Marvel and DC's titles.
Despite having some hard times, with infighting between the founders, and Jim Lee selling his studio back to DC, Image has continued to be one of the top comic book publishers out there. They still hold to their philosophy of publishing creator owned content, putting out quality books, and pushing the boundaries of the comic book world.
