Introduction
Have you ever wanted to display your comic book? Maybe on a wall, or on your desk in the office. How do you go about doing it, as well as keeping in mind that your comic needs to stay protected as well? BCW has the answer in an adaptation of their acrylic photo display.Like A Card Protector Only Much Bigger
BCWs Deluxe Acrylic Comic Book Display operates on the same basis as the screw down card protectors that have been around for some time. I had some of those same card protectors when I was younger, using them for my ahem Star Trek The Next Generation Card Game. Dont laugh okay maybe just a little. The concept is easy enough, the case is two clear plastic frames that are held together by screws, holding the item in place. This display actually uses their 8X10 photo display but has a black adapter that fits in between the two clear plastic frames that acts as the holder for the comic. The result is a rather stylish looking frame where the comic looks like it is floating in darkness.
Style At What Cost?
I think there is a lot to like about this product. The main thing I liked about the display case is how clean and sleek it looks. It would look great on a wall, or in my opinion, in conjunction with their stand, would look fantastic on a desk or shelf. I also liked that you can see both the front and back of the comic and since the acrylic is crystal clear, seeing your comic clearly is a breeze One thing about the clarity is that they etched in their logo in the black frame, but since it is only on one side you can always put it on back side so you don't have to look at it when you display your comic.p] The protection the case offers is great. It is almost an inch thick of heavy duty plastic. The product also offers UV absorbers to keep it from yellowing, but I would keep it out of direct sunlight anyways. I have no doubt that a fall or drop wouldnt harm the comic, as it is firmly locked in place. The other thing that worried me was in the screw in system. The adapter doesnt leave you much room for the comic to move around, which is a good thing, but if you arent careful, some of the comic could get crimped as you screw it down. I didnt have much trouble with it, but it is something to look out for.
Another issue, although minor, was the time it took to take the comic in and out. It only takes a few minutes to do this, but I dont really see that as something youll be doing every day. The four gold colored screws have to be taken out one by one, and I wouldnt trust a power drill for this kind of work.
