Neil Gaiman is a poet, songwriter, novelist, screenplay writer, and comic book writer. His works have been considered by many to be some of the greatest literary works in comic book history. Neil continues to be very successful in comic books and his work is highly anticipated.One of Neils first works in the comic book world was with Miracleman, for the UK publisher Eclipse. Shortly after that, he got on with DC and it was there that he started the series Sandman. The series lasted for 75 issues over about 9 years and was one of the first to have an actual ending in mind to the long running series. Sandman can still be bought in graphic novel form. Sandman is considered by many to be one of the great comic book series of our time. Pulitzer Prize winner Norman Mailer said this about the series - Along with all else, Sandman is a comic strip for intellectuals, and I say it's about time."
Gaiman has continued on working in comics, books, movies, and television. He wrote a series for the BBC entitled, Neverwhere, and also wrote Mirrormask, which was directed by his long time friend and fellow comic book collaborator Dave McKean. Many of his works, including Stardust and Coraline are being made into feature films.
Neil continues to rock the comic book world, with his work on the Marvel re-imaging project 1602, which won a Quill Award in 2005. He is now working on a new series for Marvel Comics, based on Jack Kirbys characters, The Eternals.
