Being the technophile that I am, I love digital comic books. Being the cluttered pack rat that I am, I love digital comic books. Being the type of person that likes his money to grow over time, I hate digital comic books. Being a person who dislikes to see comic book stores close from lack of sales, I hate digital comic books.
There are many reasons to love or hate digital comic books. I lean much more towards the love side of things since I see our digital devices continuing to grow as integral parts of our lives. They are not going anywhere and our capitalistic society has proven that where there is a means to make money, there will be people to make that happen. Even though there may be some issues with sales being taken from comic shops, peoples tactile love for being able to hold something in their hands ensures that print comics are not going anywhere anytime soon.
For me, digital comics are just another part of the comic book experience, and I see them as a great way to bring in new readers rather than as a thing that will take away from comic shops. What about you? Do you see digital comics as the devil or as an angel of light ushering in a new era of comic goodness?
