Extreme Comic Book Cosplay

The cosplay world is one that intrigues me. I understand the desire to dress up and sometimes do, but it is usually with whatever is laying around and easy to put together. I always have ideas of what would be cool, but the time and money to make those things happen is usually spent elsewhere. Not so for many cosplayers, who devote hundreds if not thousands of dollars and countless hours putting together some fantastic costumes.

One I saw recently was via an article from the Popular Science website. The creator made a War Machine outfit, complete with LEDs for eyes and the chestpiece, as well as a rotating gatling gun and drop down face plate. The thing looks very nice overall with a great polished feel to it. It won some cosplay contests, and the workmanship shows why.

The interesting thing here is the drama happening behind the scenes on the forums from which these creators congregate. Accusations of chips on shoulders and secret keeping was almost as interesting reading about as the creation of the  armor itself. There is a whole 'nother world out there when it comes to cosplay and the creators can be just as colorful as their creations. Either way check it out. It's a neat creation and interesting read about the way fans of comic books express themselves.
