BoxSort TM - Cardboard Genius

Monday March 30, 2009
I've always thought since laying eyes on them that the DrawerBoxes TM were the best new comic book storage invention since, I don't know, the comic board and bag. Now many of us have long boxes filled to capacity with our comics, but what about those that aren't full? How do you protect them so that they don't slide around and twist spines, or bow out under the pressure. Well the amazing thinkers at The Collection Drawer Co. have come up with another great cardboard idea. The BoxSort TM upright dividers are made to not only divide your comic collection, but to provide an extra strength wall that turns your long box into many mini boxes. It's a rather clever device so check out the review of the BoxSort TM divider system. I'll give you one guess as to whether I liked it or not.

BoxSorts are great! I was stuffing foam in the back of my drawer boxes to keep extra room to keep the comics at the back accessible and to keep them from flopping over if I had extra room. This is a much more elegant, clean solution.

Just a couple things to add to your review, BoxSorts are easy to implement. I did a straight setup shift from my foam padding to the Box sorts on 25 drawer boxes in about an hour. Admittedly, I did go back and spend some more time after to re-sort to better take advantage of the benefits of the BoxSorts (mainly leaving space to allow titles to grow), which took some more time and thought.

Having worked with both the retro kit and the BoxSorts that come with the DrawerBoxes now, I actually prefer the thinner cardboard dividers provided with the retrokit.

I also agree with you that it is too bad you can’t get the BoxSorts for existing long boxes. I don’t think it would take too much work to be able to provide them. I prefer to use the DrawerBoxes, but I do have some long boxes in use that are on separate shelves where I don’t have more room for Drawer boxes. I also use some short boxes as a sorting/staging area before I file my comics into the drawers where BoxSorts would be useful (I could probably get the longer box sorts and cut them to fit for this purpose, though).

You beat me to the review on this one, but it looks like we had similar results. BoxSorts are awesome!
