Wonder Woman Day

Wednesday October 15, 2008
Does your city have an official Wonder Woman Day? Portland, Oregon does. Mayor Tom Potter has officially declared October 26th as Wonder Woman Day in the City of Roses. This day comes with a special meaning, as Wonder Woman Day has become a way to raise money and awareness for domestic violence shelters. The day comes with two events, one in Portland, Oregon at long time comics shop Excalibur Comics, and in New Jersey at Comic Fusion. The event has some great comic creators attached to it, with the Portland event having Gail Simone, Aaron Lopresti, Adam Hughes, and others. In addition to this, there is a lot of comic book art being auctioned off in a silent auction at the events. The neat thing is that you don't even have to go if you are miles away, you can still proxy bid on items. Details are at the Wonder Woman Museum site. Some of the art includes work by Adam Hughes, Gilbert Hernandez, Matt Wagner, Terry Dodson, Wendy Pini, and more. Take a look and see how you can help women in need.
