Creators In Unusual Places

Saturday September 6, 2008
The news has many tales of "star sightings." Heck, there are even shows that are pretty much devoted to where the stars are hanging out and who they are with. The comic world is a little different. For comic creators, most people won't know who they are, with the exception of people like Frank Miller, but that's more because of his movie work than his comic books. Living in Portland, Oregon - one of the new comic meccas of the world - I get to run into comic book creators from time to time. There's the local events like Free Comic Book Day where you are guaranteed to see people, but i've run into Brian Michael Bendis at a local comic shop, and saw Kurt Busiek at the Stumptown Comics Fest and local mall as well. For comic fans in the know, seeing a comic creator can be just as cool for the fan. Have any of you had any close encounters with comic creators? Post your comments below.
