Top Comic Book Archenemies
Saturday January 27, 2007
Rivals, competitors, opponent. These words don't even come close to the kinds of complicated relationships many heroes develop with their villains. When lines have been crossed and either the hero or villain wishes nothing else but destruction of one another, then you have an archenemy. These archenemies have been the stuff of legend for decades and comic books have come up with some classic pairings of villain and hero. When one thinks of some heroes, certain villains automatically come to mind. Time and time again, they try to take down the hero or prevent the villain from his latest scheme. Find out about the top archenemies in comic books.Image Copyright Marvel Comics

My only dissent about your list is #7. My own pick here would be Spidey vs Doc Ock. One of Spidey’s most dangerous advesaries in my view, and I have to disagree with your view on Venom being Spidey’s darker side. If anything the symbiote is just an extension of Eddie Brock’s dark personality, not Peter’s.
Other than that I have to give you a thumbs up for your picks here.
Hey Lew,
You make some good points there. I was tempted to just put all of Spidey’s villains together and all of Batman’s together as well, but finally decided against it.
As for Doc Ock, while I do think he is probably a more interesting and original character, I think that Venom is so much more popular and their rivalry has been portrayed more in the comics. Which one made it to the Thunderbolts?
Thanks for the comments!
