How to Publish Your Own Comic Book

By January 18, 2006

Follow me on:

Josh Blaylock, founder of Devils' Due Publishing, a comic book publishing company, has recently published a guide for those of you wanting to self publish a comic book. It is mostly a prose piece that will take you through the steps from start to finish in getting your comic book published. The first of four issues is due out in February. Devi's Due puts out such comics as GI Joe, Army of Darkness, and Hack/Slash.

That’s why only rich people who have fame and love, I even can’t read any answer here for these askers, is that because most of comments are written by people less than 40 years old?
I am 19 years old and I want to publish my own comic.
that’s why I don’t blame Hackers, Pirates etc..
they look for best methods to help people for free instead of waiting for most of the stupid companies in this world, Companies only look for the money, where money goes and comes, not looking for talents, that’s why becoming hackers and pirates is increasing day after day.

(56) chris says:

im 18 years old I have not read much of comic books, but I have always respected them for all the entertainment they brought to the world over and again. I have a somewhat like a comic book and the development is on going and amazing in my opinion. I called it ”Demon Heart”. I am not afraid of telling people the name because I know my comic inside and out. A title is just the bait its the story that reals the reader in. I started this comic in 2005, I left it alone becaus I only had one sentence written down. I have recently got back to it and i have written 13 episodes so far. I need help with this book I can not do it alone. I need artist’s, and a story plot assistant. Once the royalties are in play I would be more then happy to share any profit from the book. O and I will be catious on what i share about the story for safety reasons.

(58) kaikai says:

I want a piece of the pie of “super popular talking animal adventures, where the cast would be better off being humans because it makes no sence to have a high+epic+heroic fantasy where the main characters are four legged animals. Think of what Lord of the Rings would of been with cats and dogs”

how do I do a winner? just copy what popular 13-17 year olds do? a lot of them get laughed at and resort to Kablam or LuLu to publish, resulting in fans thinking it was DC or Tokyo Pop who did it.

(66) Ethan Creed says:

My friends and I have been working on a comic for a year and a half. Be being the artist and he being the author while another edits when needed to be. We really wanted to have this published.
No, we are not ready just yet. But we will. The other two members of the team are very talented and determined to get this done. We are in out last year of high school. We do not have much time until we actually have to work to get what we want.
http://ethancreed.deviantart.com/ is where we keep the comic. We would really appreciate that some one can look at it and give advice.
From Music, Comics and Film, we try to make this comic as good as it can be. Or course there is always room for improvement, but in time, I believe that this can really turn into something.
Everyone on this page * from the nine year old and 20* has the means and rights to do what they always wanted.

(70) Liam says:

I’m 12 years old and I’ve been publishing comics into my school library since I was 8. My comic genre is comedy/action adventure. Kids at school love my comics, and they are inspired by everyday events. The 742 year old “looker”, Greenbeard, is forced to team up with his nemesis Greenburns to defeat the evil Obese Maurice. As said in reviews it’s a “Hilarous story about a Hilarous character”. That comic was inspired by the school’s class clown when he taped green paper to his chin. I immediently thought GREENBEARD! I think my comics have a interesting point of view because of me being younger. My dream is to publish a comic.
